Yesterday I tried to add Horned Puffins in the search in Del Norte Co.,
but could find none.
I did several hours thoroughly from the Oregon border south to Enderts
Beach just south Crescent City and an area around the Klamath River
mouth. Only puffins were a pair of Tufted at the Castle Rock seabird colony.
Today the singing male Chestnut-sided Warbler is still present for it's
4th day.
Just south of Crescent City in Redwood Nat'l Park, take Enderts Beach
Road off Hwy 101. Go about 2/10 mile to park along the road at a gate
with a sign on the right. Bird sings in the morning right along the road
here usually in the same tree (a double trunk Red Alder) until around 10
am, then moves about and even to willow trees far to the west later.
Today the singing Parula Warbler present since 29 May, is at the Lake
Earl Wildlife Area. Go to the headquarters building on Old Mill Road and
park at the large gravel parking lot just to the west beyond the sign.
Walk beyond the gate out the gravel road heading north. About 1 mile out
on your left is a picnic table along the road. Bird is all singing in
spruce forest to the west from here and about 100 feet farther down the
road and sometimes to a patch to the east.
The first cycle Glaucous Gull, here for many months, was today near the
foot of the B Street Pier at the Crescent City Harbor.
Yesterday in Klamath Glen, 6 singing Grasshopper Sparrows were still
along the McBeth Field airstrip.
