For the second year, BLACK-THROATED SPARROWS are singing along Hines Logging
Road just 2.1 miles from Eddy's Truck Stop south of Hines. To find two
territorial singing birds, just turn west and uphill on Hines Logging Road... there
are mile markers painted on the RH side of the road from some previous
event, marked in tenths-of-a-mile.... when you are just below the huge gravel
operation, at 2.1 miles, at a fence corner with a "No Trespassing" sign, you will
find one male bird mostly uphill, and one mostly downhill. The birds respond
readily to recorded songs. I believe that there are at least two other
singing birds before this spot, but not as close to the road.
