My Wife and I wandered up the trail at Basket Slough near Dallas to enjoy a nice evening and were lucky enough to see two buntings. We stopped to chat with a couple with a spotting scope who had been waiting a while when the INDIGO BUNTING appeared. He stayed for some time, and even sang for us. He was located as previously described, in a small snag on the right, about 100 yards past the trail fork, and past a small burn area.

After we had taken the trail up and around the butte, the LAZULI BUNTING appeared in a tree close to the forks of the trail, singing and giving a nice show. We watched him for about five minutes.

Other nice sightings included MEADOWLARKS, a female WESTERN TANAGER, and many of the usual suspects.
