OBOL,

It was quite cold on the mornings of Sun.'s Paisley, and Mon.'s Lakeview BBS routes. Minus 2 and 1 deg C respectively. It seemed liked the low temp may have affected the somewhat quiet count for Paisley, however, Lakeview's count seem above average, so the low temp. was probably not the cause. Paisley's route stretches through the Upper Sycan watershed and is being decimated by beetle kill throughout the old-growth stands of lodgepole pine.

Just 1 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER on Lakeview, and 0 on Paisley, and that seemed significantly low. That result may have been impacted by the low temps., but their activity did not increase even though temps. rose to "warmer levels" by the end of the route on each day. WILLIAMSON SAPSUCKER was quite common on the Lakeview route, which covers from upper Deep Ck. to Bull Prairie in the North Warner Mtns. One PILEATED FLYCATCHER on the Paisley route. BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER on that route were numerous.

While not on the route, and standing near the main intersection of Paisley, I observed 2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVEs flying around. I walked up the main Chewacan River Rd. and heard them calling from some pines in a trailer park. Hmmm. Trailer Park birds. Then while walking around Lakeview I spied a couple of the birds a little south of town center along E Street. A BLUE-WINGED TEAL was seen at Hyde Resv. near Bly.
