The Wednesday birding group from Eugene went to the South Willamette Dump. This is an old dump site (closed more than 30 years ago) at the west end of 52nd street off Willamette Street. It has mixed woods, blackberry and open prairie habitat. We spent the majority of the morning here and then went to Bloomberg Park, near Lane Community College, where Kit Larsen reported seeing a hybrid Lazuli - Indigo Bunting a week ago. We did not find any buntings at Bloomberg Park. We arrived there near 11:00 a.m. Perhaps it was too late in the in morning.

Here is our list:

Turkey Vulture - several

Red-tailed Hawk - flying over Eugene

Mourning Dove - 2

Anna's Hummingbird - one female at the dump and one female at Bloomberg

Rufous Hummingbird - very common in both locations, perhaps as many as 15 at the dump site
