ing, which was hopping with birds, although we didn't get any specialties. =
Many RED-NAPED SAPSUCKERS (no Williamson's) were hammering away, an early C=
HIPPING SPARROW, an unidentified small empid and a singing CASSIN'S FINCH w=
ere the highlights there. Indian Ford CG was dead (honestly, with all the h=
ighway noise, I just don't understand how the birds could like it there). C=
old Springs CG had a WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKER, but we had a feeling that it =
was just a few days early for this spot. FOX SPARROWS were along the first =
1/2mi of FR1018 before the road was blocked by snow.

Our final bird was an AMERICAN DIPPER at the Marion Forks Restaurant right =
under the Marion Ck bridge over US26.

Michael Fleming from WA state and I took a spontaneous weekend trip to the =
east side of the Cascades in search of a few year birds. No rarities, but a=
whole lot of fun with the regulars.

We pulled into Sisters at 8:30am on Saturday and immediately had a flock of=
about 100 PINYON JAYS at the NE corner of McKinney Butte & Fremon=
t (thanks to Steve Shunk for his reaffirming comments). A WHITE-HEADED WOOD=
PECKER and a few Pygmy Nuthatches were also in this area.
