Around 11:30am Friday, March 2, I saw a pair of mature Bald Eagles
circling over downtown Eugene (old Federal Building, Lane County Public
Service Building, Eugene City Hall) after gliding from the Skinner's
Butte area, huge birds, broad wingspan, looked totally dark brown
against the light grey sky but I ran and got my bins and confirmed the
brilliant white head and yellow bill, for some reason could not see a
white tail, possibly the angle of the light. They were flying 2-3
hundred feet apart but seemed to be "together," hanging out in roughly
the same area. Nesting on/around Skinner's Butte? Wouldn't it be neat if
we had eaglets (like these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dys8W0CQ5xk)
downtown this spring along with the usual complement of Osprey-lets!
