OBOL, hello!
Just a heads-up for fellow Beaverton birders, now that it's getting very
near the time for Great Blue Herons to pair up and lay eggs.
There's a Great Blue Heron rookery just a bit west of NW 185th in the
Tanasbourne area. The rookery is located on NW Evergreen Parkway where Rock
Creek (the actual waterway) crosses the road. The location is on page 564,
square D2 of the Thomas Portland Metro area street maps.

The rookery is best viewed from the excellent paved trail that follows the
creek. Locals use it all the time for jogging, bicycling, and baby
strollers. Cars can be parked very near trail access in the southwest corner
of the parking lot behind Tokyo Electron, located at the extreme west end of
NW Tanasbourne Drive. Parking in EPSON's parking lot off of Evergreen Pkwy
doesn't work out for viewing the rookery because the nests are on the
opposite side of the conifer grove from there. Tokyo Electron is much
better.
Rock Creek Trail is pretty long, and goes in both directions from the
rookery through some pretty good riparian wetlands. Just be on the alert for
bicyclists. You can't hear them coming up from behind, and they seldom use
horns or bells.
