[obol] Short tailed weasel

After a nice afternoon at Killin wetlands yesterday, I decided to set off
early this morning. I was barely out of Forest Grove when I saw a turkey
vulture eating carrion on the road. Once at Killin, I was greeting with the
wonderful morning cacophony of the marsh--redwings, geese, sparrows, wrens.
Immediately a bittern flew over the road, from one side of the marsh to the
other. On the north side of the marsh were a pair of bitterns within 30 feet
of the road. In one of the large trees on the north side of the road, east
side of the marsh, were two pairs of wood ducks, sitting on branches, quite
content.
While I was watching them, I noticed something on the ground near my feet. I
wasn't sure what it was until I got home and looked it up--a short-tailed
weasel. I watched it travel about 15 feet before it disappeared in the
brush. The black end of its tail was lovely. A chipmunk appeared soon after.
I imagine it will make a meal for the weasel.
