Dave,

This gull looks to be a GLAUCOUS-WINGED x WESTERN GULL hybrid. Certainly 
it has GLAUCOUS WINGED relatives. The darker wingtips than mantle and 
pale at the base of lower mandible are both characteristic of WESTERN 
GULLS of the 1st cycle (1st winter, 1st basic...whatever we call it 
these days). The unmarked edges to the secondaries and relatively 
non-patterned coverts are both good indicators of GLAUCOUS-WINGED and 
WESTERN GULLs.
