[obol] Unusual SF bird

Jordan & others~

The coloration & size made me think of a Saffron Finch from South America.
It is introduced in Hawaii (and other places) and, like Dan, I think an
escaped pet bird seems very likely in San Francisco.
However, Saffron Finch has orange on the crown, not red on the face.

The fact that the tertials & wing coverts are uniform without darker centers
also point toward an artificial canary-like bird instead of one of the South
American finches. A Google search produced Canaries of this orange-red
coloration, but not one with an isolated facial pattern.

In short, I don't think that is wild nor pure bred.

Cheers,
