Recap from my visit to the Portland and Hood River areas 26-30Apr07:

* I concur that the birding was unremarkable at Mt Tabor Park on Sat,
28Apr... I had a Chipping Sparrow down low but few other notable
migrants. Just sorry that the lull coincided with my visit...
* Perched on a spit in the Columbia R at Hood River mouth with the
Ring-billed Gulls were four orange-legged, black-capped terns... probably
Forster's but perhaps Common can't be ruled out?
* Doing the best I could with my 10X from the beautiful Mosier Twin Tunnels
Trail (between Hood River and Mosier), I can't say with certainty that the
Aechmophorus grebe far below on the Columbia was not a Clark's...
* What's happened to Tamanawas Falls Trail (#13 on OR Cascades Birding
Trail map) on Hwy 35 25 mi S of Hood River? We followed instructions,
backtracked, re-backtracked, got out of the car and stomped around on foot,
but the trailhead doesn't seem to exist in nature...!
* On Timothy Lake (Mt Hood NF), pairs of Common and Hooded Mergansers, a
lone Common Loon, and an immature Bald Eagle chasing an Osprey were nice.
