[obol] Skinner's Butte, Eugene

The Wed morning group found swarming migrants on Skinner's Butte.
Warblers, vireos and tanagers rushed through the canopy like blowing leaves.
Yellow-rumps and Orange-crowns were the most numerous warblers, and others
were seen in numbers, except the single Nashville and Yellow warblers.  I
don't report the numbers for the most numerous.

 

Mallard - 3 pr.

Osprey - 1pr 

Bald Eagle - besides the nesting birds, there was a perched immature near
the top of the butte.

Vaux's Swift - Numerous at all times over the butte.  No swallows were seen
with them.

Anna's Hummingbird - 1

Olive-sided Flycatcher - probably only 1

W. W. Pewee - 2

Hammond's Flycatcher - 2 or 3

Pacific Slope Flycatcher - 1

Crow

Steller's Jay

Scrub Jay

Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 3

Golden-crowned Kinglet - 1

Brown Creeper - 1

Robin - 15+

Swainson's Thrush - 4

Bewick's Wren

Hutton's vireo - 1

Cassin's Vireo - several

Warbling Vireo - several

Orange-crowned Warbler - numerous

Nashville Warbler - 1

Yellow-rumped Warbler (both types) - numerous

Yellow Warbler - 1

Townsend's Warbler - several +

Black-throated Gray Warbler - several

Wilson's Warbler - several +

Bushtit - 8

W. Tanager - numerous

Bul. Oriole - 1

Black-headed Grosbeak - 2

Pine Siskin - 100

Lesser Goldfinch - 10+

Spotted Towhee - 8

Golden-crowned Sparrow - 4

Song Sparrow - 3

 

Roger Robb, Don DeWitt, Don Schrouder, Sylvia Maulding, Kit Larsen, Dennis
Arendt, Paul Sherrell, Nate Senner, Randy Sinnott - and briefly seen were
Maitreya, Al Prigge with friend, and Barry McKenzie.
