[obol] Virginia Rail, Pileated Woodpecker & Pheasant on Springwater Trail

SE Portland, Saturday April 29:
   
  Springwater Trail (just N of Foster Rd) east of SE 111th (around 9am)
  VIRGINIA RAIL (heard and finally seen with dried grass in its mouth!) on the north side of the trail about where you can see across the marsh to a farm on the south.  Male RING-NECKED PHEASANT seen in the farm garden, crowing continuously.  Another heard in a field closer to 111th.
   
  Springwater Trail (just N of Foster Rd) east of Jenne Rd (around 11am)
  Go into the woods on the north side of the trail right by the bench.  Follow short path where it ends near some houses.  You'll see a big snag well worked by PILEATED WOODPECKER.  Heard calling and drilling, but not seen.
