Hello OBOL,

There were a pretty good number of birds found on today's Portland
Audubon Bird Song Walk on Mt. Tabor. We had pretty good, if chilly,
weather. We avoided the thunder, lightening and the largest hail I
personaly have seen in Portland (been here since 1983). Some of the
highlights: great views of a group of about 12 EVENING GROSBEAKS at
eye level; one group of 5 male and 2 female WESTERN TANAGERS (with
fabulous eye level views) and another group of 2 male and 2 female
WETA; good views of CASSIN'S and WARBLING VIREOS; a fly-over of about
10 RED CROSSBILLS; many WILSON'S and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS; a
low-flying, speedy SHARP-SHINED HAWK; great song from a LESSER
GOLDFINCH which incorporated in it's song a Downy Woodpecker then a
Pine Siskin; frustrating looks at a few (silent)EMPID SP. that were
probably Hamond's; and lots of other nice birds.

Good Birding, Gerard.
