I spotted 2 Wandering Tattlers in breeding plumage foraging on the exposed
rocks at low tide on the south side of Yaquina Head today.....beboping around
entertaining our Bonding With Birds volunteers and participants....and flying
in right on cue after a reporter asked, "What bird would get you guys really
excited...something you wouldn't see very often." This was mid-day.

Another very entertaining bird was a Common Loon in breeding plumage actively
diving.

We saw several small flocks (3-7) of pelicans. Interestingly, the nesting
seabirds did not seem affected by the pelicans flying over low but seemed quite
vigilent of the Turkey Vultures.

More about the nesting seabirds and our first Bonding With Birds weekend later,

Cindy Ashy
