The Northwest Habitat Institute, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is
developing a "Guide to Oregon and Washington's Wetland Wildlife and their
Habitats" for 6th grade students in Oregon and Washington (with potential
use for landowners as well). The guide includes information about four
wetland habitat types found in Oregon and Washington, which are also
identified as priority habitats in the Oregon and Washington Conservation
Strategies, and wetland features such as soils, plants, and climate effects.
The largest portion of the book features information on wetland wildlife and
their specific functions in the ecosystem. It is our goal to print an
initial lot of 10,000 copies of the Wetland Guides to distribute
free-of-charge to all elementary and middle schools in Oregon and
Washington.
Among the research we are doing for the species profiles is to find
exemplary photographs of each wildlife species. If permission to use the
photo is given, we would like to obtain a color digital image (at least 300
dpi). In doing this, the Northwest Habitat Institute will be given the
opportunity to use this photo in "A Guide to Oregon and Washington Wetland
Wildlife and their Habitats", and the photographer acknowledges that his/her
work will be in the public sector (they will be used by 6th grade students,
however, they may also be used by landowners or students of other ages).
Granting use of a photo to the Northwest Habitat Institute in no way limits
the photographer's future use of the photo!
The photographer's name will be identified in a special section in the
guide, and the photographer will receive a free copy of the guide when it is
complete!
