I neglected to mention in yesterday's message that we observed a dusky
flycatcher near our pond on 5/4.
Today's newest visitor was a Bullock's oriole male.
And, 2:15 PM must be the appointed time for sparrow bathing at the local
pond - within a ten minute time period, four vesper sparrows, three
white-crowned sparrows, one lark sparrow, one Brewer's sparrow, and one
chipping sparrow were all bathing, most at the same time. Each species
seemed to have their favorite spot along the edge. Two meadowlarks joined
the sparrows near the end of their bathing time. Interesting!
Happy Birding!
Patty
