Dear Birders,
I'm in the state a few days before my (usually) annual Oregon in Spring
tour. It sure is nice to be home! Alan Contreras and I did a leisurely
drive through southern Benton County this morning. We observed the pair
of BLACK PHOEBES just south of the Long Tom bridge in Monroe. On Bruce
Road in Finley National Wildlife Refuge we saw WILSON'S PHALAROPE at
the mid-point scrape (one) and at McFadden Marsh (at least two). A
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was also at the scrape, as were 2 or 3 AMERICAN
BITTERNS and a SORA. Two GREAT EGRETS were at McFadden Marsh, along
with two families of HOODED MERGANSER and many drake WOOD DUCKS.
Good Birding,
Rich
