We returned from a trip to Texas Wed. and found our resident Phoebe had hatched her brood. There were two little heads peeking over the Barn Swallow nest from last year. This morning our company commented on the Phoebe's sitting on the wire, so we looked and the nest was empty. Much to my surprise there were three babies sitting on the wire. What we thought was the parent was a baby. They let me come close to get a picture. The Barn Swallows are busy with their nest building and the Kingbird has cleaned her old nest up so we should have more babies in a month.

While in Texas I got to see Tufted Titmouse, they were the Black-crested. They came regularly to families bird feeder. There were Carolina Chickadees and Interior Scrub Jays coming in to the feeder also.

Our Horned Larks and Killdeer are still in residence but the Blackbirds, Yellow-headed and Red-Winged have moved. Our automatic feeder went "dry" , so they had to hunt for food.
Glad to be home in Oregon!
Karen
