[obol] Obol: Eugene/Santa Clara Rufous Hummingbird

Greetings, Obolists,

I was very surprised to have just (2:45 Thurs.) seen a sub-adult male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD at one of our fuchsias. This is far and away our latest sighting of this species in 11+ years here. It appears to have either a damaged or defective bill that is only 1/2 to 2/3 the normal length, leaving a good bit of the tongue constantly exposed. (It looks like a new species: Rufous Curved-billed Hummingbird.) It seemed to have no problem feeding on the fuchsias, however.
