Obolites,
I have been somewhat amused at the differing rules people have applied to themselves in keeping yard lists. From "It must be on the ground, in my yard", to, "I coun't everything I see from the boundaries of my property, so long as I can identify it". Well, Ok, I subscribe to the latter group, thank you. And please bear in mind that my "yard" is a little more than what one might have in suburbia, (its a farm), and that my tenure (about 55 years of list-keeping) is about three decades longer than any of those previously listed. But at present the list stands at 208, and I think (are you listening,Bill?) that it is surpassed by the list on Thackaberry's Linn County Farm.
Among the best birds here are two species which I saw a long time ago: A pair of Yellow-billed Cuckoos in 1960, and a Great Gray Owl in 1970, It has been a fun ride.
