I have kept a few different "yard" lists. One is at my
parents' house in north Eugene, that has 44 species.
My best birds there include Mountain Chickadee and
Western Screech-Owl. I also have a few "work" lists;
one was when I worked at Wild Oats off Willakenzie
Road and includes California Quail, which was
definitely my best bird there. I have a mental list of
birds I have seen at my work now, (Subway on Green
Acres Road near Wal-Mart): the best bird from there is
definitely a Common Nighthawk I heard flying over as I
left one summer night a few years ago. From my yard
near UO, where I live now, I have a rather small list,
but the habitat is much smaller than my parents' house
and we have no backyard.

For me, a yard bird is any bird that I see or hear
that is IN my yard, or any bird that I see or hear
while _I_ am in my yard. The sidewalk in front of my
house counts too. :)
