I have always enjoyed keeping a yard-list, but having lived at this address
for 33 years, it's become difficult to add a new bird. It now stands at 104
spp. I count all that I can see and hear FROM the boundaries of the
property, which is on Agate St. It's near the University of Oregon campus,
Washburn Park, and Hendrick's Park. We have a resident W. Screech Owl, and
White-throated Sparrows are annual. One day when I walked out the front
door, a N. Mockingbird was flying up Agate Street, and a flock of Western
Sandpiper did the same on another occasion. Other good birds I have had for
this residential area are: Bohemian Waxwing, Tundra Swans, Barn Owl, Bald
Eagle, California Quail, Gr. Yellowlegs (call at night), Costa's
Hummingbird, all the Empidonax flycatchers except Willow, Olive-sided
Flycatcher, and Wrentit (annual).
