We also had red crossbills today (Monday), a single pair enjoying the
sunflower seeds at the feeder near the kitchen window. It provided a
wonderful up close and personal view. The first time they were observed
Wayne was actually outside about 10 feet from the feeder. The pair wasn't
the least bit anxious and continued to feed for several minutes. The
crossbills are a new yard species for us.

A Stellar's Jay also visited the yard this afternoon. Although not a new
yard species, the Stellar's Jay is an intermittent one, seen some years and
not others.

A dozen wild turkeys visited us off and on over a period of two weeks during
October, another new yard species.

We are enjoying these lovely fall days and cool nights. Good birding!
