With company for the last 3 weeks I haven't had time to put down the new birds we have been seeing. Starting on Oct. 24 we have had 4 sightings of Ferruginous Hawks, 1 at Rockville in southern Malhuer Co., 3 between Princeton and Crane in Harney Co. on Oct 26th and Nov. 6. On Nov.3rd we had an Oregon Junco hit a window then fly away with another bird in pursuit. A friend visiting and I hot-footed it out to see a Loggerhead Shrike hovering waiting for the Junco to reappear from its hiding spot. There was a Rough-Legged Hawk on Hwy 78 between Princeton and Crane on the 6th. There are Juncos, Oregon and Slate-colored at our feeders. The Horned Larks have moved to the road side and the Meadowlarks are in the sage brush and yard. The Chipping Sparrows are still rummaging in the garden and lawn. The White-crowned Sparrow are fewer than last year.
