I somehow missed the Ruby-throated Hummingbird in
Pendleton memo :-) I did check the OBRC website and it
wasn't on there. I'm told there is also a Magnificent
hummer in the pipeline too so for now I'm going to put
hummers aside, move everything on my list up a notch
and in light of the exciting discovery of an Ivory
Gull in BC yesterday and since I was on the verge of
putting that on my list...I'll add Ivory Gull now that
I've got another slot. So my list now reads:

#1: Black-tailed Gull
#2: Great Black-backed Gull
#3: Wood Stork
#4: American Oystercatcher (Pacific frazari
subspecies)
#5: Ivory Gull

With American Woodcock being my alternate if the Ivory
Gull takes the express from BC and gets spotted here
before Alan posts his list :-) That would be so cool!

I've got a feeling that American Woodcocks are
here....we just haven't found them yet. 14 of us (led
by Darrel Faxon) ventured into the ominous weather for
an owl prowl last Friday night and heard at least 2
Barred Owls and a Virgina Rail so birds that make
spooky sounds in the dark are on my mind. I'm of the
opinion that the birding community is missing some
interesing sightings because of the tendency of
birders to go birding mostly in the early AM.....and
also when the weather is "nice."

I wish I could convince Phil Pickering to do some of
his famous seawatches around sunset/early twilight.
Could be interesting.
