Tropical Birding or Borderlands for Ecuador. We were just down in Ecuador in
early September for ABA Int'l Conference and Tropical Birding did a superb
job on all our tours. According to one of the ABA officers I talked to after
the conference, many ABA members were jumping over to Tropical Birding from
VENT, Field Guides, and other tour companies. They are a relatively new
company but they are very, very good with excellent guides. Run by Brits and
Aussies, from what I could tell. They are based in Quito, Ecuador:

Borderlands has a tour guide named Chris Scharpe who is leading (or
co-leading) the Ecuador tours and is also outstanding. We took one of his
trips to Costa Rica two summers ago and were very pleased. We could
recommend him without reservation.

Subject: [obol] Birding Tour companies for Copper Canyon and Ecuador

  Hi,

Several years ago I asked for suggestions on a tour company for Costa Rica
and I got great information from the obol community. We had two wonderful
trips with Costa Rica Gateways over the past two years. Now we would like
to go either to Copper Canyon or Ecuador next February. Does anyone have
recommendations for companies to use for birding trips to these two
destinations?

          Thanks,
