[obol] Flicker vs starlings

A flicker has been enjoying the suet feeder in my back yard.  Today three
starlings came in and thought they could take turns plundering the feeder.
The flicker turned, slammed its bill into one of them, knocking it upside
down into the air with a squeal I heard through the closed window, then
jumped on top of the second one, physically ejecting it from the perch, and
finally leapt toward the third one, which fled in terror.

Here's to flickers, long may they wave.
