This afternoon I was watching our feeders. I mentioned our "three chickadee day" to Jeff when I saw the MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE. We had seen the CHESTNUT BACKED and BLACK CAPPED earlier. Then, what I thought was another mountain chickadee turned out to be a BLACK THROATED GRAY WARBLER. As we were watching it, a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET flitted through the trees, followed by a FLYCATCHER. Because it landed in the very top of a leafless terminal stem on our maple tree, had a very dark face, no eye ring, short stubby tail, with a light streak down the center of the breast, I'm thinking OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER. A nice way to spend a rainy day in the kitchen.
