I've also seen a huge increase in AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES at the feeder recently. Had about 50 total on Saturday (including about 10 LESSERS). Interestingly, I had nothing but Lessers at my feeders up until a couple of weeks ago. Also caught a brief glimpse of what I think was a PINE SISKIN (too small to be a female House Finch) feeding with the Goldfinches yesterday. The small flock that it was in flew off before I could get a better view with the binoculars.

Happy rains,
Sitting down for dinner this evening, I noticed a small bird flitting
about our backyard. My first thought was that it was a flycatcher, but
I thought they were all south by now. As it turns out, it was a
WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE. I haven't been hearing any during my bike ride
along the Willamette for a while now--shouldn't it have migrated south
by now?
Yesterday, I had my first of the fall TOWNSENDS WARBLER, JUNCO, and,
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS. We've also had many dozens of A. GOLDFINCHES
at our feeder and sunflowers the last few weeks.
