Yesterday (October 1), while working outside near Dayton, Yamhill County, I observed what must have been at least 200 VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS overhead. They were present most of the morning. I didn't detect any southward movement among the swallows, but all of a sudden they just disappeared in early afternoon. I was able to pick out one VAUX'S SWIFT among the flock, but no Barn Swallows.

I also had a migrating group of perhaps 40 VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS Saturday, 29 Sep 07, in Cook Park, Tigard (SW Portland area). A nice farewell to summer as the cold monsoon hit. I scanned for Black Swift.
