Hello Lona
What tends to happen here in Bandon is our Anna's are pushed out or move
away in the summer - possibly pushed out by the Rufous/Allen's. At the
end of August a male Anna's returns, and there are 2 female Anna's
around now too. The male has taken up territory in the yard, singing
his little heart out and displaying for the lady's. This will go on
until Feb or so when the Rufous/Allen's return and begin to bully the
Anna's around. It is my opinion that they Anna's are breeding anywhere
from now until late winter here on the coast. So the bottom line is the
behavior of your Anna's is quite normal. Keep the feeder up and he
might stick around.
Cheers
