I'm requesting help with keeping watch for a weird bird last seen on Tuesday October 9, Noon, Bayocean spit. We were walking out north past the first gate, the bird was perched on top of a bush between the road and the bay. It was wet and fluffed up, but this is what I saw.

Grayish back, lightly speckled or streaked breast, black wings with white patch at base of secondaries/primaries.

No mask or other distinguishing mark on head, gray beak more thrush-like than shrike-like.

Most of tail missing, except for outer two white feathers, gave the appearance of a forked white tail.

So far I'm thinking either a northern mockingbird or shrike, but any help would be appreciated. I'm going to look for it again today. I looked for it yeasterday in the evening, but no luck.   Carol Cwiklinski
