I was just about to post about all the Turkey Vultures I saw
yesterday afternoon from my NW Portland abode when I read Wilson
Cady's October 4 post from Ridgefield (their seeing 152 Turkey
Vultures). I had 151 Turkey Vultures in the air all at once, in
several kettles, visible from my abode, which is on the top third
floor of an old house. Interesting... What a spectacular sights,
seeing all those vultures passing by. I have a good view to the
north and east, which is also great for watching migrating waterfowl.
As predicted by Harry Nehls at the Portland Birder's Night on
Tuesday, Wednesday was a good day for migrating geese as was
yesterday, as noted by others in previous posts. I, too, noted
multiple flocks of White-fronts and Cackling Geese passing overhead.
Also in the past two days I noted small numbers of House Finches and
American Goldfinches on the move, flying over the house in flocks of
5-10 birds.
Not much noted moving today.
