The Audubon Society of Corvallis' field trip visited Finley NWR this
morning. We covered the north side, including Cabell Marsh and Mill Hill
trail. Perhaps the most notable sighting was a large flock (> 100) of
BAND-TAILED PIGEONS along the Mill Hill trail. Cabell Marsh did not have
many ducks or geese in it yet. Along with some Mallards and Canada Geese
were a small flock of RING-NECKED DUCKS and a small flock of AMERICAN
WIGEON. An adult BALD EAGLE kept watch. Nearby, we had a probable PRAIRIE
FALCON. Its back was a uniformly light brown color, but we didn't see any
dark axillaries, tho the dark foggy sky made distinguishing color and
markings rather difficult.
