Although I haven't seen a flock of 35 like Greg, I have noticed more of this
species this October than the previous three Octobers.
Around mid-September, I noticed that the two pairs that bred near my house
(and their offspring) were gone, and my sightings of this species in SW
Portland decreased. Then, over the past two weeks, I've noticed an increase
over what I was seeing in mid September. Although I'm not keeping track of
the counts, I believe I'm seeing at least 6+ per day while going about my
non-birding activities in SW Portland. This stands out to me as being
unusual relative to the previous three Octobers I've lived here. Anyone
happen to know their peak migration date? Average departure date?
Percentage of breeding population that does not migrate?
