Today I ventured over on MAX to the Forestry Center (Washington Park -
Portland) & figured while I was there I would check out the fall colors
at the Arboretum. I hung around the Maple & Hawthorne trails mostly
because there were HUNDREDS of Waxwings up in the trees. I was utterly
surrounded by them - all over the many Hawthorne species and conifers
surrounding the area. There were many Robins too as well as lots of
Junco's. It took me a while to figure it out w/ the Waxwings. They sound
like starlings sometimes and seeing big flocks I just
assumed....starlings, but w/ a closer look..... wow! what a treat! Heard
and seen were plently of Chickadees, RBNuthatches & some Band tailed
Pigeon flyovers.
