BARRED OWL barking in wooded ravine along Hemlock Trail near intersection with S.W. Fairview Boulevard in Portland's Hoyt Arboretum shortly before 11 a.m. today (Monday, 10/22/07). Owl repeatedly gave 3-4 barks, followed by short series of tremulous notes. At least three flocks of SANDHILL CRANES moving south overhead; one flock had 30 birds.
