Last Wed., the 24th, 2 adult Golden Eagle were flying together over
our place. Circled up and then flew off. The next day, the 25th, a
Black-Throated Gray Warbler was in the riparian area next to our garden.
(Relatively) large numbers of American Robin have moved in (as of
about a week ago) feeding mostly on Madrone berries. One or more
flocks of Band Tailed Pigeon are still in the area. Cedar Waxwings
(always hit and miss in this area) are around also feeding on the
Madrone berries.
I've noticed (anecdotally) many more than usual White-Breasted
Nuthatch in this general area this post-breeding season. I'm
hearing/ seeing them in marginal habitats where they are usually absent.
All sightings in the Takilma area of the Illinois Valley, Josephine County.
Best, Romain Cooper
