A glance at the Christmas Bird Count schedule shows that we have Saturday
January 5 with no CBCs in southwestern Oregon.  This might be an opportune
time to start the year off right by running the Coquille Valley CBC again.
It covers the areas around Bandon and Coquille.

I'd be interested in hearing from observers who expect to be twiddling their
thumbs that day and might welcome a chance to bird the sunny southern Oregon
coast.  

The Coos Bay CBC has been lazily coasting along around 160 species in recent
years.  Coquille Valley has reached the mid-150s more than once.  Maybe we
should make the Baron Rodenkirk work for his title this year.
