This morning Diane Pettey and I saw the WHITE-WINGED DOVE at Terrie Loomis'
feeder in Bandon. I can't offer directions since I wasn't driving, but Tim
Rodenkirk posted Terrie's phone number a couple days ago and she is more
than willing to have folks come see the bird. During our visit to Bandon,
we saw five of the six species of Columbiformes that have occurred in
Oregon. Sadly there was no Common Ground-Dove, but we did have Rock Pigeon,
Band-tailed Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Eurasian Collared-Dove (also at Terrie's)
in addition to the WWDO. The dove was quite cooperative spending the entire
time we were there (about 30 minutes) either perched in open view above her
feeding station or on the ground in plain view.

We made a brief stop at Bandon Marsh, where we ran into one of the Shorebird
Festival field trips, before heading back north. No rare shorebirds, but
there was a nice variety and good numbers of common species. There were at
least 40 Marbled Godwits, hundreds of Semipalmated Plovers, about 60
Black-bellied Plovers and lots of peeps. A Peregrine Falcon was keeping the
birds moving around.

After dropping off Diane, I went to the N. Jetty of the Siuslaw, which was
utterly dead other than the masses of humanity. I did have a textbook adult
PARASITIC JAEGER that flew lazily down the beach from the north passing the
jetties and continuing south. It appeared to be migrating. Alan Contreras
and others were birding around Florence and Alan told me that Bill and Zanah
Stotz had a STILT SANDPIPER in one of the small ponds along the "Dotterel
Dike" about noon today.
