This morning I joined several searchers at Fern Ridge, all of us failed to
find the Buff-breasted Sandpipers that have been reported recently. Before
going to Royal Ave., I spent about 30 minutes scoping the reservoir from the
Fern Ridge Dam. Far out over the middle of the reservoir I had a flock of
at least 20 COMMON TERNS. At one point a few birds flew in close to the
dam, but most of the time they were far out over the lake. I also saw a
couple of small flocks of Red-necked Phalaropes way out in the middle of the
reservoir.
At Royal Ave. I had a Black Phoebe near the observation platform, a molting
adult Black-bellied Plover was in the pond/wetland s.w. of the platform and
also had a juv. Pectoral Sandpiper n. of the end of Royal.
