Yesterday we went to Bayocean Spit at Tillamook Bay. There were low numbers of shorebirds, though we did see a large flock of about 40 flyover Marbled Godwits on the beach side. On the bay side close to the parking lot we saw and heard a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER. Nearby we also saw an odd yellow-legged peep with a bright reddish cap. It had a white throat, creating less of a "brown headed" appearance; the breast was streaked somewhat sparsely and was washed with a pale buffy color. A noticable majority of the feathers on the upperparts had black centers. The call was similarly pitched to a Pectoral Sandpiper, but longer. It flew and foraged mostly away from the Westerns. It flew before we could process everything and pull out the camera.

At the south Jetty a large gull with all white wingtips flew by. It was most likely a GLAUCOUS GULL, though the view was brief.
