Hi everyone! I'm from Wisconsin, and I'll be visiting family in Eugene the
first week of October for a few days. I'll have a car, and hope to be able
to get out birding a couple of mornings while I am there. I'm looking for
any good tips in the Eugene area, which includes an hour's drive or so east
and west, to include mountains and the coast. Below is my wish list. Can
anyone tell me which birds are likely given the time of year I'll be there,
and where would be good places to try for them? All of these birds would be
lifers, but I welcome any good birding, and if I get some lifers, even
better!

Bushtit
Wrentit
Chestnut-backed chickadee
Gray jay
Gray-crowned rosy-finch
Varied thrush
Pinyon jay
Western scrub jay
White-headed woodpecker
Red-breasted sapsucker
Band-tailed pigeon
Hutton's vireo
Golden-crowned sparrow
Hermit warbler
Vaux's swift
Wandering tattler
Surfbird
Black turnstone
Western sandpiper
Any alcids (I won't be traveling with a scope, and won't have time for a
pelagic trip, but are any alcids viewable with bins from shore?)

Thanks for your help! You can back-channel me with suggestions.
