OBOL,

The hawk monitoring station on Bonney Butte on the SE side of Mt Hood
started up on August 27. The flight should be picking up the next
couple of weeks and peaking from September 20 to October 10. Visitors
are welcome. It's a great place to see accipiters including Goshawk, as
well as Golden Eagles and Merlins. A few Broad-winged Hawks are usually
seen between Sept 20-30. Early in the season (about now) I have found
the butte is also good for interesting landbird migration.
