[obol] Baskett Slough

I spent about 40 minutes at Baskett Slough today (Sept. 9, between 3 and 4 PM), at Colville Road.

Shorebirds:

Killdeer                            5
Greater Yellowlegs           2
Western Sandpiper          80 or so
Lest Sandpiper                10+
Baird's Sandpiper             4
Red-necked Phalarope     2
Wilson's Phalarope          1 brief visit - seems late

The Baird's Sandpipers tended to be a bit separate from the other peeps.  they would light, and then the others would decoy into them.  Then the flock would flush (generally whan a vulture flew over) and they would all fly up together, but the Baird's would separate and land first. Sometimes the others would land with them, sometimes elsewhere.  when separate, the Baird's were less jumpy.
