The big blob that you saw was parts of the gizzard and the unwanted intestines. Raptors eat a portion of the intestine to get vitamins and minerals.
Speaking of Peregrines we had a young of the year male trying to have dinner with one of our pigeons two days ago. He wasn't fazed by two people and three dogs in the yard watching. two days before that we had a young of the year female Prairie Falcon doing the same thing. She has visited us a couple of times earlier.
