While at Alvord this weekend a White-throated Swift flew above us. We were up on the mountain above the hot springs at an elevation of 7000+ feet.. It flew uphill towards us, circled a couple of times and flew down the mountain. I lost sight of it against the mountain. The white on the throat, body and wing edges was brilliant. On the way up the mountain a young of the year Coopers Hawk was sitting on a post contemplating the world.
Since returning home we have seen a Sharpshin hawk and Northern Goshawk around Crooked Creek. In the yard the Horned Larks have moved into the grass. Now we have "little brown rocks"running in the grass.More Chipping Sparrows are moving back. The Say's Phoebe is still hanging around.
