If you birded in Lane County on Saturday, September 15, I would appreciate
receiving information about the birds you saw, how many of each, the
locations birded, and the time and miles you spent on the effort. I have NO
reports from Fern Ridge! Surely someone must have birded there.

So far, our EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE count is at 6, with 5 in
Alvadore (reported by Dave Brown) and one at the dog pond in the south jetty
area at Florence. We found a PEREGRINE FALCON flying north just north of
Strawberry Hill, and a MERLIN in the same tree where the dove had perched at
the south jetty dog pond, but about 15 minutes later. A WHITE-TAILED KITE
hovered over a field west of Veneta, across from and a little east of the
trout farm enterprise where the road straightens out for a stretch. There
was a significant fallout of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS late in the day in the
campground area just inland from Siltcoos Beach. Two young-of-the-year
PURPLE MARTINS were in a flock of mostly VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS (about 250
swallows in all). We found them in the morning, just as the group was
beginning to leave a roost on a power line. There were times during the day,
largely south of Florence, when we found it nearly impossible to hear the
birds due to the roar of off-road vehicles.
